Nucleus – Capetown Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2011(Pictures)

After graduating in Fashion Design in Johannesburg, designer Nicole Rasmussen moved to Cape Town where she started the label Nucleus. Beginning with knitwear, the label has grown into a complete range offering dresses, skirts, tops, jackets and pants. These quality pieces are available at ‘The Space’ and ‘Just’. Nucleus has also recently started supplying Poetry with the Nucleus by Poetry range.

The label is inventive and takes jersey to a new level with techniques like pleats, tucks and style-lines – Nucleus is characterized by the tailoring of jersey. This is contrasted by the label’s uses of draping as well: fabrics like linen’s, chiffons and cotton twills are used in a signature style.

The Nucleus Spring/Summer 2011 range was inspired by the concept of a Urban Modern Hippy Free-flowing effortless dressing with light, easy fitting garments. The range (was) in a natural pallet, with flowing silhouettes and involved tailoring. Nucleus also incorporated a selection of locally designed millinery, shoes, bags and jewellery to style the colelction.
