MTN Lagos Fashion & Design Week Spring/Summer 2013: Mango #LFDW

Two and half years ago, Spanish retailer Mango made its debut in Nigeria. Fast forward two years later, it serves as a case study that multinational fashion companies can thrive in Nigeria’s slowly but emerging fashion retail market, while hiring its locals and contributing to its economy.

For Spring/Summer 2013, Mango joined the lineup of design brands in showing at the MTN Lagos Fashion & Design Week event. Its showcase was straight to the point, pragmatic and functional clothes for the everyday woman. Our only criticism is that the collection seemed like a fall/winter collection than spring. We would have loved to see a lot more colors, movement and beautiful print dresses. The design brand dominated its runway with black, suggesting maybe its collection needed a bit more editing for the season it is showing.
