The House of Marie Collection is probably one of the more impressive and cohesive collections we have seen coming from the MTN Lagos Fashion & Design Week Spring/Summer 2013. We liked the label’s use of colorful laces and its own interpretation of color blocking. For example, in one design sent down the runway, the label paired an orange lace top with a wine colored/ burgundy lace skirt. We liked the tie dye dresses shown, the fresh take on anakara pants, especially given the specific yellow floral print ankara fabric chosen is one of the most commonly used fabrics in Nigeria. Also exciting was an integration of elements of the Indian culture dress, the sari, into a richly textured and embroidered spaghetti strapped floor length brown dress.
