Ladybrillemag.com is Loving Africaunsigned.com, Site for Africa’s Superior Unsigned Artists

We at Ladybrillemag.com LOVE emerging artists, especially those from Africa or of African heritage. So of course we were excited to discover Africaunsigned.com, a site dedicated to superior unsigned music talents from Africa!

“Africa Unsigned is a joint initiative by producers, artists, music promoters and managers who believe in the future of African music. Currently there are approximately 30 of us scattered across the globe. We are present in Europe, in South Africa, West Africa and in East Africa.” The founder Pim Betist explains why he started Africa unsigned.com, “‘I wanted to move more towards music closer to my heart and i was inspired by a Jamaican taxi driver who couldn’t join Sellaband due to a lack of recording facilities and internet access. I chose to focus on the African continent because of the diversity of African music and abundance of highly talented artists.’”

Beitist has also said regarding funding African artists, “There is a huge diversity of authentic amazing styles of African music, created and played by a young generation of African artists. I see this generation as being neglected and mistreated by the traditional music industry. Less than 1% of the global music market is accounted by the African continent. If we leave out South Africa we are left with almost zilch. I believe in the potential of The New African Sound.”

We agree, wholeheartedly!
