L’Africana™ Night 2011 ft. Korto Momolu, Millen Magese, Georgie Badiel and More!

Liberian-American MacDella Cooper, Founder of the MacDella Cooper Foundation and the MCF Academy,  will host on February 18th, 2011 the inaugural “L’Africana Night” celebrating the beauty, culture, music, art and cuisine of Africa. The event will honor philantrophist and entrepreneur Barry Segal with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his philanthropic commitment to Sub-Saharan Africa. One of Ladybrille’s women of the months alumni Bisila Bokoko, who seems to be on a roll with awards in 2011, will receive L‘Africana’s Woman of the Year award for her commitment to eradicating illiteracy in Africa.

Anna Schilawski will receive L ‘Africana Volunteer of the Year, for her commitment to the children of Liberia. Black Hollywood will also be in the building with Actor and activist Isaiah Washington also hosting the event.

The evening’s activities is enough to keep guests quite entertained and includes:

  • A live musical performance by pop diva Zelma Davis
  • African inspired runway show with garments designed exclusively for L ‘Africana Night by Korto Momolu,  Farai Simoyi among many diverse designers that will show.
  • A Red Carpet reception and taste of Africa Banquet which kicks off at 6:30pm with an award presentation

Confirmed personalities at the event include Actor Matt Dillon, Millen Magese, Georgie Badiel, Animata, Steele, Aminat Ayinde, Ashley Harris, Danijela Lazarevic and Melissa Aroc.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the MCF Academy for orphans and abandoned children in Monrovia, Liberia. The MCF Academy is the first tuition free boarding school dedicated to orphan and abandoned children in post-war Liberia. The Academy opened its doors on Christmas Day 2010 and will ultimately house and educate 200 children.
