Ghana has successfully marketed and promoted its Kente fabric as one of the most famous clothing from Africa. Yet, when conversations about style take place on global style boardrooms, Ghana is not part of the discussion. Often, the West African nation is associated with its rich gold history, its role in the slave trade, the Pan-African political movement, and its iconic leader Kwame Nkrumah.
Nevertheless, organizers of the 2016 Glitz Style Awards (GSA) are determined to make the world associate the country with style and as a style destination. Accordingly, they brought their style A game for the second edition of GSA. Held on September 10, 2016 at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, GSA showcased Ghana’s style aficionados and rewarded them for their excellence in categories such as’Designer of the Year,’ ‘Model of the Year, Stylist of the Year,’ ‘Fashion Photographer of the Year’ and much more.
To say the event showcased some of Ghana’s finest style stars would be an understatement. Indeed in attendance to mark the occasion were some of Ghana’s stylish A-list celebrities such as actresses Joselyn Dumas and Yvonne Nelson, musician Becca, filmmaker Shirley Frimpong-Manso, fashion model, entrepreneur and Ladybrille Woman alum Belinda Baidoo and much more.
