Inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert’s novel ‘Eat, Pray, Love,’ which is a story about a woman in search of love and purpose, Gavin Rajah’s goal this season was clear. With excellent attention to details and perfect embellishments on pieces such as dresses trimmed with silk flowers, elegant pin tucks, and graphic embroidery, capture the range of emotions of a woman traveling on her own and finding love. Don’t forget to add the slouchy knits to bias cut dresses to help those curves and give it a little funkiness! By the way, try using unique fabrics like silk dévore satins, cashmere, knitted bamboo and light weight mohair to really put the ‘umph’ in it.
Rajah indeed accomplished his goal and brought the “WOW’ factor to his mission accomplished ‘La Belle Dame Sans Regret’ Spring/Summer 2008/9 collection at the recently completed Durban Fashion Week 2008.
Rajah’s range of relaxed separates, tailoring and signature occasion wear pieces encouraged women to embrace this season’s romance. His suits which incorporated relaxed tailoring in cotton blend suiting with Lycra content, enhanced fit and showed a confident contemplative woman in search of love while jetsetting.
His knitted silk/cotton and bamboo pieces simply spelt pleasant and cool evenings. He also created sexy teasers with cotton and silk voile dresses and swimwear. Overall, a stunning collection! Check out some pics from the collection and each piece can sooooo be a trend!
