Designer Mustafa Hassanali to Participate in Oxybleach India International Fashion Week 2009

HassanaliDesigner Mustafa Hassanali keeps Tanzania and Africa’s flag flying. Coming off the heels of Swahili Fashion Week and also showcasing in Supermodel Naomi Campbell’s Fashion for Relief, the designer now heads to India for the Oxybleach India International Fashion Week 2009 (OIIFW).

OIIFW will be held from December 3rd-5th at Crowne Plaza Hotel in New Delhi, India. OIIFW will showcase 1 international designers and one Indian designer on the India’s runway. Will Hassanali “wow” his audience the way he did Arise Africa Fashion Week? It appears so! The designer plans to showcase what he calls a “strong 30 Piece collection which is Truly Cosmo Tanzanian.” “It’s a Fusion of WHAT is East African, The eclectic Mix or Our Vibrancy of Culture and Customs for the Cosmopolitan Market,” explains Hassanali. “From the Swahili coast Khanga to the Maasailands Accessories . . .”

In the past five years alone, there has been a strong push by India’s government to strengthen ties with Africa. Hassanali’s showcase in India can only be good news to a continent focused on rebranding its image globally.
