LBW 031: Meet Bola Atta, Director of Corporate Communications at UBA and Ladybrille Woman of the Month November 2015

Bola Atta, the recipient of many awards and recognitions for  her numerous achievements in business and leadership on the African continent, is currently the Director for Marketing and Corporate Communications at the United Bank for Africa (UBA), overseeing 18 countries across the continent. Prior to UBA, and in 2001 while working for M-Net (Electronic Media Network) West Africa (as a Program Manager) she proposed to the network’s executives  that a channel be dedicated solely to the broadcast of African movies – specifically Nollywood movies. Atta worked on the concept, development and programming of this channel which was successfully launched in 2003. Today, the channel ‘The Africa Magic’ is the most watched channel on the African continent. In 2004, Atta made a dent in the entertainment and media sector with her subsequent position as Editor-in-Chief for True Love West Africa Magazine, a first of its kind in West Africa. In 2005, her achievements and accomplishments earned her a position as director of one of the largest publishing conglomerates in Africa (Media24Nigeria).

She joins host Ms. Uduak on 31st episode of  The Ladybrille Woman Show as the Magazine celebrates Atta as its Woman of the Month for November 2015.

LBW 030: Meet Toni Tones, Nollywood Actress, Musician and Photographer


Toni Tones is a talented and multifaceted woman with a passion for the creative arts. She discovered her passion as a young child and was allowed to explore her diverse talents. Today, she is a successful photographer, a singer-songwriter, a voice over artist and producer.

A graduate of The University of Lancaster in the United Kingdom where she studied Economics & Marketing, Toni Tones returned to Nigeria in 2009 with the intent to conquer all three worlds of music, film and photography. Her first foray was photography. Within three years of entering the photography industry, she successful made a name for herself and earned the recognition of Nigeria’s top corporate and creative brands as clients. By 2011, Toni Tones expanded her creative portfolio to add music to the mix. The following year, she added acting by landing a lead role as Halima in her first audition for the film ‘Gidi Culture.’

By 2013, she released her 1st single titled ‘I Know What You Like’ produced by Baby Fresh of Mavin Records.  The single helped attract attention for Tones as one to be taken seriously in the music industry.

Toni Tones joins Ms. Uduak, host of The Ladybrille Woman Podcast Show, in the 30th episode of the radio podcast show to discuss business leadership, breaking into the film, music and photography industry, financing her passion for the creative arts, her strong support system, her future and a lot more.  Listen and share with friends and family on and offline.

LBW 029: Meet Chike Nwoffiah, Founder of the Silicon Valley African Film Festival

Chike Nwoffiah, founder of the Silicon Valley African Film Festival, is a graduate of the University of Lagos, Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business INM program and the Hollywood Film Institute. An award winning filmmaker, director and educator, he has received numerous prestigious awards and recognition for his work and contributions to the creative arts. He is a past president of Mountain View Television and currently serves on the boards of the Arts Council Silicon Valley, Chamber of Commerce Mountain View Education Foundation; Alliance for California Traditional Arts, and African Diaspora Network. Nwoffiah was listed as one of the “Top Ten Most Influential African Americans” in the San Francisco Bay Area by CityFlight Magazine in 2000. Chike Nwoffiah is a Senior Fellow of the American Leadership Forum – Silicon Valley and an adjunct professor at Menlo College in Atherton, California where he teaches African and African American History.

He is a guest on the 29th episode of the Ladybrille Woman Podcast Show where he discusses the 6th Annual Silicon Valley African Film Festival. The event takes place October 16-18, 2015.

LBW 028: Meet Bola Aduwo, Nollywood Screenwriter and Ladybrille Woman of the Month October 2015


Raised in the same household as her famed fashion designer cousin, Duro Olowu, after her father died in a car accident, Bola Aduwo is a screen writer, writer, publicist and trained broadcaster who worked as a producer in Nigeria’s foremost radio station Radio Nigeria (Kapital FM Abuja). Aduwo discovered her flair for writing after her former class mate Emem Isong (Nollywood’s leading producer), made her realize her gift of writing.

Aduwo would later team up with Isong to co-write many Nollywood hit screen plays such as ‘A Minute to Midnite'(1997), ‘Hit & Run'(1998) and ‘For Real.’ In 2005, Aduwo left her job with the Nigerian government in Abuja (the nation’s capital), moved to Lagos (the entertainment capital of the country) and decided to pursue her passion for writing. She has since co-written even more successful screenplays such as ‘Reloaded,’ ‘Guilty Pleasures,’  ‘Bursting Out,’ and ‘I’ll Take My Chances.’ In recent times, she wrote ‘Code of Silence,’ a film now screening in theaters across Nigeria and available online which deals with rape. Aduwo is also an avid blogger and a publicist. She is Ladybrille Magazine Woman of the Month for October 2015, and she joins host Ms. Uduak to discuss her career trajectory so far and the business of writing in Nollywood. Listen and share.
