House of Versatile Styles by Bukky Are to Show at Seattle Fashion Week

A well edited collection never goes out of style. On May 15th, 2010, at 8:00pm, Bukola (Bukky) Are, fashion designer (Nigerian) behind the label House of Versatile Styles, will join other emerging, established and international fashion brands to show a well edited collection at Seattle Fashion Week (SFW) 2010.

Are who appears to have a solid foundation in clothes construction, styling  and presentation, will present a collection titled “HVS” at SFW 2010. Are’s HVS  collection is inspired by her travels locally and around the globe; and includes fabrics from the US, Africa and Europe. Are also plans to introduce, for the first time, her eclectic handcrafted neck pieces.

“I started designing this collection October of 2009,” explains Are in a press release sent to Ladybrille. “I had no concept in the beginning but as time progressed I realized that the only word I could use to describe/define this collection was Timeless,” added the designer.

The HVS 2010 collection includes jumpsuits, fitted couture jackets, cocktail dresses made out of fabrics such as satin lame, silk chiffon and lace, Are’s favorite fabrics to work with.

Are has also teamed up with Sarah Radford of Chic Gems Jewelry, a celebrity jewelry designer, for accessories that will complement the HVS collection.

Are will also be at the SFW Expo on May 14-15th from 1-7pm selling her designs. Are’s May 15th, 2010 runway show will include music provided by a variety of African artists including  the brilliant Lami Phillips.
