Organizers of the 2016 Africa Magic Viewer’s Choice Awards recently revealed nominees for next year’s event at a private event held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island in Lagos, Nigeria. The event which was held during the second week of December saw Africa’s top filmmakers, actors and actresses in attendance. Stealing the spotlight, however, were movies by three African women filmmakers which enjoyed multiple nominations. The movies are ‘Dry’ by Nigeria’s Stephanie Linus (11 nominations), ‘AYANDA’ by South Africa’s Sara Blecher (8 nominations) and ‘Road to Yesterday’co-produced by Nigeria’s Genevieve Nnaji (6 nominations).
