Africa Fashion Week 2011: Maita Marimo (Pictures)

“Maita Marimo is a young Zimbabwean-born fashion designer who launched her Harare-based brand in 2009. The self taught designer became the youngest recipient ever to win the 2003 COTTCO Fashion Designer Competition Award held in Harare, Zimbabwe. In 2007, Marimo was selected to represent Zimbabwe at the Tribal Fusion Fashion Show in Johannesburg, South Africa. Marimo was also declared the winner of The School of The Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) Scholarship Competition in 2008.

Marimo has dressed many notable celebrities such as Miss Zimbabwe 2005, Oslie Muringai. The Maita Marimo brand is a celebration of individualism and Maita believes that each garment she creates is a collectable piece of art.”
