“Craig Jacobs studied at the University of Technology in Sydney, Australia however he decided to shift route slightly and come back to Johannesburg to focus on mainly on fashion as he felt a need to explore a fresh platform and tell positive stories to Africa about Africa. He started his label, Fundudzi, in 2004 alongside Pumla Ngxekana who later moved to New York and the brand became purely his own.
After starting, Fundudzi flourished with achievement including participating in an international exhibition in Copenhagen. One of Craig’s signature styles is re-energizing African silhouettes, for example, blanket wrapping into stylish wrap dresses and head coverings into sleek hoods. He channels spirited, individualistic, women who enjoy wearing innovative clothing and silhouettes that enhance the female form. His inspiration this season is clothing with a conscience, taken to a new level. He wants his collection to inspire initiating change in our troubled world rather than just speaking the words.
‘I am not a designer; I am a communicator who uses words and clothing to transmit a message.’”
