As we at Ladybrille prepare for the exciting week of shows at the upcoming New York Fashion Week, Spring 2009, one of the pressing questions on our minds is whether Korto Momolu will make it to New York Fashion Week? Will she debut her collection at the prestigious event? The Project Runway Season finale show is scheduled for September 12th, 2008 at 9am at the tents in Bryant Park. The tent is the largest hall in Bryant Park and is indeed needed for the crowds of insiders, press, family etc. that show up each year for the finale. Will Korto be showing in the tent?
One of our Web Snob partners and respected fashion insider, renowned fashion shoe blogger, The Manolo, has this to say, “Korto is clearly the most original and unexpected of all of the designers. Her choices are not always those of the Manolo, but they are emphatically her own, and they are emphatically original. She deserves to be in the final three, although whether or not the judges see it that way is the different matter.”–Manolo Shoe Blog.
All we can say, at this point, is we are honored for the privilege to be the first to have introduced to the world Korto via our Ladybrille indepth exclusive on Korto Momolu . We are definitely rooting for the “Afropolitan” brilliant designer all the way to Bryant Park! Meanwhile, for those of you who have missed her progress thus far, we’ve done a recap of her designs. Check it out and tell us what you think. Will she make it? No pressures but will Korto put Canada, Liberia/Africa and plus size women on the world’s fashion map hitting all three out of the ball park? We are staying glued to our screens to find out!
