Tiger Woods Vanity Fair February 2010 Cover: Yuck!

Tiger woods graces the cover of Vanity Fair’s February 2010 issue. The photo is shot by Annie Leibovitz who says “Tiger is an intensely competitive athlete—and quite serious about his sport. I wanted to reveal that in these photos. And to show his incredible focus and dedication.” The shot in one word ‘yuck!’ In my opinion, it does nothing to reveal any competitive side to Tiger much less his “incredible focus and dedication.” With Leibovitz’s extensive experience as a photographer, is this the best she could come up with?

Beyond the fact that the look is so stereotypical, almost every black famous hip-hop male artist at some point has struck a smiliar pose, it further reinforces the “player” Tiger Woods we are now discovering. Tiger’s eyes and face lack emotions indicative of “intensely competitive” or “incredible focus.” He at best looks sad and worse confused and tacky with his clothes off. Not a good image given his ongoing shenanigans. *Sigh* So much for wanting to “reveal an intensely competitive athlete” Ms. Leibovitz.
