The Future Awards 2010: Actor of the Year Nominee Profiles

Gideon OkekeGideon Okeke was born in 1983. His biggest project in the past one year has been working on his TV show, TINSEL. He also collaborated with the likes of Jimmy Jean-Louis of the ‘heores’ fame, CLAM, to mention a few. In the past year, he has put in over 3,000 hours of screen time on one project.

Omoni Oboli
Omoni Oboli was born on the 22nd of April 1978. In the last one year, 5 of her movies have been released, namely: The Gigurine, Behind a smile, Through the fire, Entanglement and Guilty pleasures. Her biggest project in the past one year was as the lead actress of the movie The Figurine. She hosted the Nigeria Entertainment Awards in Washington DC in June this year and while there, her fans from my fanbook site (www.omoniobolifanbook.com) hosted her to a lavish reception and farewell dinner. At the just concluded Best of Nollywood awards, she was nominated for best actress in a supporting role. Apart from being an actress, she is also a script writer.

Oluwakemi Akindoju a.k.a Lala
Oluwakemi Akindoju a.k.a Lala was born in 1987. In the past year she has featured, in 13 stage plays and 52 productions, the highlight of which was the Annual Season of Wole Soyinka (June-July 2009). She was an instructor in the Amstel Malta Box Office 4 House in December 2008. Popularly known for her role in the premiere of The V-Monolugues in March 2008 (where she was the youngest actor), Kemi Lala has been one of the lead actors in Wole Oguntokun’s Theatre@Terra project from inception till date.

Mercy Anuoluwapo Aigbe
Mercy Aigbe is one of the stars of the Yoruba movie industry in the country. She has acted in over 50 home videos, and has also acted in stage plays. Her biggest project in the last one year has been her new movie titled “Afe Aiye.” She has recently been awarded the following awards: Afrohollywood Awards Best Actress 2009, City People Best Actress 2009, VCOAN Best Upcoming Actress 2008, BCOS Best Upcoming Actress and FOCOM Awards Best Actress 2008.

Ali Nuhu
Ali Nuhu was born on the 15th of March 1978. In the past one year he has acted in 6 Hausa and 4 English movies. His biggest project in the past one year is a soap opera (Finding Aisha). In 2009, he signed a 2 year endorsement contract as an ambassador to Globacom. His awards include a Stars in the Movie award (September 2008) for contributing to the Hausa movie industry, ZAFAA (Zulu African Film Academy Awards) as Indigenous movie in London October 2009.

Tonto Dike
Tonto Dike was born on June 9 1985. She is still in school, University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, studying petro-chemical engineering and in her final year. Her movie line up in the past year has seen her take major roles in at least 8 Nollywood movies.

Nonso Diobi
Nonso Ifediora Diobi was born in 1981 and in the past year has acted in at least 30 Nollywood movies – becoming possibly the industry’s Number One leading man in that period.

Mercy Johnson
Mercy Ozuama Johnson was born on the 28th of August 1983. In the last one year she has acted in 45 movies. Her biggest project in the past one year Guilty Pleasures. She has also been involved in the Mercy Johnson Foundation for the Poor. Her awards include Best of Nollywood awards, Afro Nollywood Awards, and City People awards. She is being taken on a tour of 5 countries by Africa Magic to boost their sales and is spending this Xmas with the first family of Sierra Leone on special request.

    no controversy he is the best choice bkos nothing tangible has been done lately by the nominees.without any biasment kindly agree with me that he is the one.no controversy…tanx
