Le Tabouret D’or Relaunches as African Row, A Platform for African Fashion Boutiques

Le Tabouret D’Or pivots into the beta launch of African Row, a fashion marketplace. African Row provides a platform and tools that will help its member designers easily build an online boutique, expand their distribution channels, manage inventory and receive orders, all in one place.

African designers from all around the world are invited to join the beta. The platform is currently in English and US dollars only. Applicants will need to have access to Paypal. African Row is in the early stages of beta, which means many components of the platform will be changing throughout the beta as they gather feedback. This open beta call will seed the marketplace.

“After we launched Le Tabouret D’Or, we had the opportunity to speak to many designers and heard about their aspirations and challenges” said Founder, Serwaa Adjei-Pelle. “One of the common themes we noticed was the lack of simple avenues for designers to take ownership of their distribution. In many cases, building a website also proved to be too expensive or seemed like a never-ending project”

“We see how much effort designers put into their creations and want to provide them with a platform where they can share their products with the world. While building African Row, we kept in mind that designers want to focus on their craft rather than the technical logistics of building a website. Most of all, we wanted to create a beautiful place where they would be proud to showcase their pieces.”

The founders aim to grow African Row into a place African fashion can call home.
