NetroMedia to Stream Africa Fashion Week
NetroMedia powers first live stream of Africa Fashion Week for South Africa’s leading fashion photographer
September 14, 2011, Victoria, Canada – NetroMedia, a leading streaming media company, announced today that it will be powering global live streaming of Africa Fashion Week 2011 from October 20-23 on behalf of SDR Photo, official photographer for African Fashion International (AFI).
Africa’s leading fashion photographer and head of SDR Photo, Simon Deiner, selected NetroMedia to stream African Fashion Week because of the company’s reputation for global delivery and comprehensive one-on-one customer support. He reports that, while budgets are strict and every expense needs to be justified, streaming has become very important to the fashion industry and, “is definitely here to stay. The ease in which NetroMedia allows this process to happen is fantastic.”
Following the success of the streaming of London Fashion Week, AFI became interested in streaming their events based on demand from fans and followers. Subsequently, Denier engaged NetroMedia to power live streaming of Cape Town Fashion Week in July. In addition to gratifying fans, the Cape Town broadcasts generated media exposure over and above expectations.
“I think it’s important to have streaming at fashion weeks,” said Deiner. “Fashion weeks are usually quite closed to the public. The streaming opens up these events in real time and provides a fantastic resource for followers of fashion, bloggers and those that cannot make shows to watch them as they unfold.”
The coverage of this year’s Africa Fashion Week, which includes the shows and the fashion awards, will be broadcast from the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa.
“NetroMedia has been streaming events for African clients for many years,” said Paul Dunn, manager to Europe and Africa, “and we’re excited to be working with South Africa’s top fashion photographer.”
