17-Year-Old Nigerian Girl, Serena Omo-Lamai, Gains Admission into 13 Universities

School Compass NigeriaCongratulations to 17-year-old Serena Omo-Lamai, a Nigerian, who has been granted admission to study in thirteen universities in America and Canada.

A recent graduate of Dowen College in Lagos, Nigeria, Omo-Lamai gained admission into Emory, Georgia Institute of Technology, New York and Syracuse Universities, among others. She opted for Syracuse where she will be studying Bio-Medical Engineering.

“I feel very honored and I feel it is an opportunity to work harder. I know that I have to justify the offer,” said the excited teenager in an interview with the press. “I chose Syracuse University because it has a very good research lab and the offer came with $51,000 scholarship. I have always loved Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography.”

She added, “my hope is to study medicine for a second degree, but I would love to be a medical engineer. Most of the medical equipment in the country are imported and I would like a situation where medical equipment is manufactured here in Nigeria.”
