Oprah Winfrey Makes Surprise $13 Million Donation to Morehouse | WATCH

Oprah Winfrey was recently at Morehouse College to receive a tribute and honor for the ‘Oprah Winfrey Endowed Scholarships Program’ she set up over thirty years ago to help Morehouse students. During the ceremony, which included roses, a song, and a portrait, Oprah made a surprise announcement to the school by pledging another $13 million donation for student scholarships.

“I was really surprised to learn that it’s been 30 years since I made that $12million donation,” said Oprah to the audience before she made her announcement. “So today I would like to add $13million to that.”

Her announcement yielded reactions of yelling, clapping and overall enthusiastic happy applauses.

According to the school, “Oprah Winfrey’s history of giving in support of Morehouse students began in 1989 with a $1 million contribution made during commencement exercises that established the Oprah Winfrey Endowed Scholarship Fund. Each subsequent gift has been added to the corpus of the Oprah Winfrey Endowed Scholarship Fund…”

Oprah’s recent donation brings her total contributions to the school to $25 million.

We love Oprah’s commitment to the education of young black men in America.
