From the mid-80s onwards, Nigeria experienced the massive exodus of its middle class to foreign shores. With the global economic crisis squeezing the pockets of many Nigerians abroad, Nigeria is now witnessing a return of many of these middle class (mostly professionals) home. The Financial Times in a recent report profiling Nigeria’s political, social and economic growth gives us a take on this re-emerging middle class.
