MTV Base Meets… With MTN Youth Panel Interviews Rwandan President Paul Kagame

As part of MTN and MTV Base Africa collaboration, MTV Base Meets… With MTN to inspire African youth, a five-strong youth panel representing South Africa, Uganda and Rwanda was  set up to enable five young people to interview Republic of Rwanda President Paul Kagame. The interviewees met with the president as part of the eight-series television show due to air this July. The panel were provided with the unique opportunity to grill the president on certain issues affecting them, ranging from Arts to Culture.

U.S Reggae Star Shaggy Set to Perform at the 2011 Zanzibar International Film Festival

US Reggae and Dance Hall star Shaggy will join a long line-up of performers (yet to be announced) lighting the stage at this year’s Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) scheduled between the 18th and 26th of June. Shaggy is set to perform on the 24th of June at the Amani Stadium. Held in Zanzibar, Tanzania, the festival has been described as one of the largest cultural events in East Africa.

EME World Tour to Kick Off in the U.S Featuring Banky W, Wizkid and Skales

Leading Nigerian record label Empire Mate$ Entertainment (EME), famed for current Nigerian powerhouses, label owner owner Banky W and new phenomenon Wizkid, have released dates for their 2011 Empire World Order Tour which kicks off June 24th in the U.S (Washington D.C). The landmark tour will be headlined by EME stars Banky W, Wizkid and rapper Skales. Tickets go on sale Saturday May 21st EST. Tuface Idibia and Gunniess VIP Competition Winner To Perform Nigerian National Anthem

African music king, Tuface Idibia has been confirmed to perform the Nigerian national anthem at Guinness the Match, an international friendly soccer match between Nigeria and Argentina, taking place June 1st. One of the biggest friendly matches ever staged in Africa, The Abuja National Stadium will see the superstar thrill soccer fans alongside popular Nigerian radio station BEAT FM and Guinness VIP competition winner Omotola Adebayo from Lagos. Omotola explained the once in a lifetime privilege:

“I’m so excited that I’m going to be playing a part at the Guinness Match. I have been singing since I was eight and the very first song I learnt as a child was my national anthem, which makes this performance a dream come true for me.”

UK Based Ghanain Gospel Act Sonnie Badu Launches Christian Lifestyle Magazine
Renowned Ghanaian Gospel artist and personality Sonnie Badu has launched a Christian Lifestyle magazine to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the successful Sonnie Badu Ministries. Named iWORSHIP, the magazine is produced by Badu’s ministries and will aim to spread the impact of the Gospel around the world. It will host the finest personality interviews, fashion and business articles, career tips and more.
