Ladybrille Magazine is Five (5) Years Old Today!

On June 11th, 2007, Ladybrille was officially established as a blogazine on blogspot with the determination to contribute towards re-branding  and de-stigmatizing the negative images of Africans in the West.

We did so using the powerful tool of fashion, more specifically African fashion. Fashion, we believed strongly, had been a big part of telling ill-informed stories of who Africans were. It only made sense it was the same vehicle, through its powerful imagery, to help tell the story of the new Africa.

From 2007 to 2009, we accomplished so much: we featured, for the first time in the West, comprehensive contemporary coverage of African fashion designers and fashion shows, we created our own video content capturing African fashion and entertainment events, we gained important media and celebrity attention on our work, we broke new African talents in fashion, film and music to the world; many have since gained global recognition,we  inspired with our informative coverage of Africa’s fashion and entertainment industries, and we collaborated with dynamic brands with our shared vision to push our message. We were growing fast and needed a new home!

In the summer of 2009, we moved to our current online home www.ladybrillemag.com. Our move entailed  a new web design and layout and introduced even more features to keep up with your demand for our events, news and fashion show coverage, among other things.

From our inception to the present times, you met many of our writers and interns (over twenty (20) persons) helping us tell a new story; and you saw us get recognition and nominations for awards. What a journey!

From our history of being pioneers in Africa’s fashion digital media space in the West, we have now morphed into a publication that is primarily about the business of African fashion, the continuous celebration of brilliant men and women in our local and international communities, in fashion and entertainment; and inspiring you all in your daily lives to take on the challenges thrown your way like the brilliant men and women you are.

For everyone who has played a part, however small, to getting us here, we say “Thank you.” Thank you for your visits, your continued patronage, emails, Facebook likes, Twitter Retweets and all of your encouragement.

May God bless you all as we step towards the future, together.

Yours Truly,

Uduak Oduok, Esq.
