“Jamilla Vera Swai compensates her petite stature by making grand, vibrant, exotic, all in your face extraordinaire designs. In her designs, she caters for everyone, from the young and old in all shapes and sizes.

To perfect her craft she joined Institute de Bela Artes in Maputo to study fashion and later moved to the Fashion College International in Nairobi to complete her studies.

In 2002 she decided to return Dar-es-salaam and opened JamillaVeraSwai Studio – giving the already established local designers some very heavy competition. Since then she participated in various fashion shows, including Swahili Fashion Week and Mozambique Fashion Week.

As part of her collection at SAFW this year, she’ll also be showing an exclusive range of jewellery and bags by Fahari, the exclusive and renowned accessories label of Julie Lawrence.”
