BONO’S EDUN Label to Scout Models at Africa Fashion Week New York!

BREAKING NEWS! Janice Sullivan, CEO of U2 rocker Bono and his wife Ali Hewson’s EDUN label, will attend Africa Fashion Week New York to scout for models for the label!  Ladybrille Magazine received the exclusive news from the producers of AFWNY, yesterday.

Sullivan joined EDUN as CEO in 2009 from Warnaco Group Inc., where she was president of Calvin Klein Jeans. Prior to working for Calvin Klein, Sullivan worked for Liz Claiborne Inc., for seventeen years. Since joining EDUN, Sullivan has been pushing the brand forward by aligning its mission and values on Africa with similarly situated brands. The EDUN label which began in 2005 was founded as a “lifestyle fashion brand founded with the mission to encourage trade in Africa and build awareness of what is possible there.”

Indeed Africans, more than ever before, have been extremely persistent on telling their own stories; and insisting on trade not aid. Africa Fashion Week New York is a clear example of such movement, an event produced and strongly supported by Africans in the diaspora to tap into the buying power of the city’s 44% African diaspora population.

Africa Fashion Week New York takes place July 12th-18th, 2010. Visit www.afwny.com to purchase your tickets. Also check  out video clips of EDUN and images from its recent re-launch party at Barney’s New York.
