(Sacramento, Calif. January 5th, 2011) Ladybrille Magazine, an online publication founded in 2007 to rebrand the image of Africa in the West, enters 2011 with a bang by featuring two powerful CEOs in its January ‘New Year, Powerful You’  Edition.

The first CEO, Teresa Clarke, is the 2010 winner of BET’s Black Girl’s Rock ‘Shot Caller’ Award. Clarke, the first black female Managing Director in the investment banking division at Goldman Sachs, left the firm to pursue her passion for Africa. Highly intelligent and witty, Clarke has a combined total of three degrees from Harvard University, Harvard Business and Harvard Law schools. In February 2010, she launched Africa.com to change the way the world sees Africa. She is the Magazine’s ‘Woman of the Month,’ a feature that celebrates outstanding women, locally and globally, for their brilliant contributions to society.

“I am honored to be featured as Ladybrille’s Woman of the Month,” said Clarke who is also co-founder of ‘The Student Sponsorship Programme’ in South Africa, a non-profit that has awarded over $10million scholarship monies to South Africa’s students. “Ladybrille is the pioneering digital magazine designed to connect the American and European markets to the African design and fashion world. I founded Africa.com to help change the way the world sees Africa.  Ladybrille represents exactly the type of new perspective on Africa that my team and I work everyday to promote. The second CEO featured is Obi Asika, a “Tower of Power and Ladybrille’s Man of the Month.” Asika is the co-founder of Storm 360 Entertainment Agency in Nigeria, an equivalent of Sony Music Group and one of the leading entertainment companies in Africa. In 2008, the media mogul was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Hip-Hop World Awards for his contributions to Africa’s music industry.

“When (Ladybrille) informed me I was (chosen) to be Man of the Month, I was pleasantly surprised. I have followed (the publication) for years and (I) am keen to engage the audience it has,” said Asika.

“The story out of Africa is changing. It is one of immense creative energy which is now manifesting through music, literature, film, and television. Our urban culture is constantly fusing with our traditional African myths. To me this is the most exciting time to be a young African; and as young Africans get rid of their inhibitions and express themselves, I feel privileged to share my feelings about this and what it means to the world,” concluded the media mogul.
