First MBA in Global Fashion Media to Launch in November by IFA Paris

IFAInternational Fashion Academy (IFA Paris), a leading fashion and luxury education provider with campuses in Paris and Shanghai, is pleased to announce the launch of a brand new MBA in Global Fashion Media, with 5 scholarships offered for aspiring applicants. Commencing in November 2013, students will spend 30 weeks in Paris and 10 weeks in Shanghai. First of its kind, this course offers a comprehensive interdisciplinary approach to global media in the fashion sector. It prepares students with a skill set that extends beyond traditional and digital media, enables students to develop a thorough understanding of the uniqueness of the fashion industry, and allows students to explore the complexity of globalization with hands-on experience in France and China.

For those who are interested in a future career in the highly innovative field of fashion media, this unique course is aimed at developing the potential of applicants from a variety of backgrounds such as fashion design, graphic design, product management, journalism and media studies. Students will develop a firm foundation of research and expressive flair in either journalism or visual styling and be looking for advanced communication proficiency, new media software skills and expertise in fashion media management strategies.

“Fashion enthusiasts have an insatiable thirst for celebrity news, beautiful clothes and fresh images and inspirational examples of how to wear them. The fashion and luxury promotions industry needs specialists to art direct, style, shoot and write about the wonderful designs that emerge every season.” At IFA Paris we can put that expertise into place with our new postgraduate Global Fashion Media course with a creative talent pool that is drawn from all over the world. Students learn about both traditional methods such as magazine layouts and content production for new technologies such as digital look-books and mobile apps. “This is a really sensational time of opportunity and change for publication and fashion media.” says Susan Jenkyn Jones, IFA’s Director of Academic Quality.

This multidisciplinary course covers a wide range of modules including: Trends & Future, Global Brand Communications, the BLOG: Social Media, the SHOOT: Photographic Styling, the Fashion Press & Print Process, E-Commerce for Fashion, Consumer Psychology, Public Relations & Events Management, among others, and offers students the opportunity to collaborate in a number of ‘live’ projects and culminate in the final major work of the Capstone project. By the end of their study, students will be armed with a firm foundation of research skills and expressive flair in either journalism or visual styling. They will also be primed in advanced communication proficiency, new media software savvy and strategies for fashion media management.

Successful students will exit the course with skills that signal a broad comprehension of Global Fashion Media and a keen preparation and confidence for boosting their careers in print and electronic media, e-commerce, advertising, broadcasting, visual merchandising, and other fashion media related industries. Potential jobs include: Fashion Journalist, Fashion Editor, Fashion Stylist, Art Director, E-Commerce Specialist, Social Media Account Manager, Advertising Brand Manager, E-Business Manager, Digital Marketing and Communication Manager and Public Relations Director.

To encourage and support the best talents devoted in fashion and media, IFA Paris is offering the following scholarships for this course to both domestic and international students:

2 x full scholarship, worth €13,800
3 x half scholarship, worth €6,900

Applicants to the scholarship will need to fulfill a series of evaluative assignments from composing a commentary editorial on IFA’s fashion show, creating a mini magazine prototype, to composing an analytical report. Students from all around the globe will have an equal chance to pursue this opportunity, and successful applicants will join IFA’s diverse student body to enjoy a truly international education.

The MBA Global Fashion Media enrollment has opened. Interested applicants should be bachelor holders, preferably in marketing, communication, business administration or fashion design related fields.
