Fashion designer Wana Sambo who is not new to controversy, released a a statement over the weekend involving the alleged assault and battery against her person; by an ex-employee upon giving him notice of termination of his employment.
Designers and Ladybrille Fashion business owners in general, you should have a protocol for the handling and firing of employees and it also goes without saying that part of such protocol should include security. If you are confused on how this works, you need to engage the services of an employment law attorney.
See below for the statement from Wana Sambo regarding the alleged assault.

“ADEKUNLE ADELAKUN ADEDAYO IS A VERY VIOLENT EMPLOYEE. YESTERDAY, AFTER RECEIVING A TERMINATION LETTER, HE REF– USED ACCEPT IT OR HAND OVER COMPANY DOCUMENTS & MONEYS IN HIS POSSESSION. AFTER HE WAS LET OUT OF THE COMPANY PREMISES, HE RETURNED LATER WITH HIS MOTHER & BROTHER WHO CAME UNDER THE PRETENSE OF ‘APOLOGIZING’ ON HIS BEHALF AND SPEAKING TO HIM TO HAND OVER ALL COMPANY MONEYS AND DOCUMENTS IN HIS POSSESSION. THE CEO GRANTED THEM AUDIENCE BECA– USE OF HER HUMANITY. HUGE MISTAKE. MID-CONVERSATIONS, AFTER HE WAS PAID WHAT HE WAS OWED, HE REF– USED TO SIGN HIS PAYSLIP AND OTHER DOCUMENTS. SUDDENLY, HIMSELF AND HIS MOTHER LAUNCHED AN ATTACK ON OUR CEO, BROKE MOST OF THE COMPANY ITEMS AND DISLOCATED HER THUMB AMONGST OTHER VIOLENT ACTS! HIMSELF, HIS MOTHER AND BROTHER THEN PROCEEDED TO FORCE THE CEO INTO POSITIONS WHERE THEY ACTED LIKE SHE WAS ATTACKING THEM AND TOOK PICTURES THEN HEADED TO A POLICE STATION IMMEDIATELY TO LIE THAT THEY WERE BOTH ATTACKED BY HER. SHE WAS NOT ALLOWED TO CALL FOR HELP TO HER SECURITY OR OTHER STAFF BECA– USE THEY LOCKED HER IN AND HELD HER DOWN UNTIL SHE MANAGED TO BREAK FREE. THESE ACTS ARE CONSIDERED BARBARIC, INHUMAN, REPULSIVE AND UNBECOMING OF A CIVILIZED CITIZEN AND A HUMAN WHO WAS NEVER MISTREATED AT HIS WORK PLACE. HIS MOTHER AND BROTHERS ACTIONS ARE COMPLETELY INSANE! ANYONE WHO HIRES HIM DOES SO TO THEIR DETRIMENT.”
(UPDATE & EMPLOYEE’S VERSION)
“On the 21st of May, I received a memo that I haven’t been doing my job and have been rude to her (Wana Sambo). I was told it would be my final warning. I tendered in my resignation letter the day after because my appointment letter stated I have to do so 14 days earlier.
On the 23rd, I went to work and she handed me a termination letter but I rejected it because I had tendered my resignation letter. She locked me up and said I couldn’t leave until I handed over all the company property that was with me.
I told her I would have to confirm from my lawyer first. She later let me go out and then I went outside the office to call my mum, she came over to the office to try to resolve the situation with her. Later, she called me to hand over the company’s properties which I did.
She (Wana) gave me a cheque paying me for the days I have worked and asked that I must sign the termination contract but I demanded she must state that I have handed over the company’s property with me.
This got her furious and while she was trying to collect the paper from me, she held my shirt and started saying all sorts of rubbish. My mum tried to stop her but she harrased her too, pushed me against the wall and did a lot of damage by herself.
I reported later and she was called later and detained for couple of hours before her step mother came to bail her.” he said.
