Eric Raisina, NYFW Arise Promise of Africa Collective Sneak Peek S/S 2010

Eric Raisina is one of the extremely talented designers who showed at Arise Africa Fashion Week this past June. He prepares to “show us what he got!” at the upcoming Arise African Collective at Mercedes-Benz New York Fashion Week. Ladies are you ready?! Ladybrille Magazine caught up with the designer for an exclusive brilliant sneak peek at his Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

LADYBRILLEmag.com: Give us a sneak preview of color palettes you will be using for your Spring/Summer Collection at Couture Fashion Week
Eric Raisina:
AFRO-ASIATIQUE ” Queen of Madagascar ” colorful collection to express the strong influences of the Red Island, Madagascar, between Africa and Asia.The intense blue tones of Indian Ocean rival the infinite gradations of terracotta. This large island unique in the world, affirms itself as a symbol of unity between the two geographies thanks to the fusion of its people and the varied landscape created by a remarkable palette…Orange, Red chilly, Turquoise, yellow green, fuchsia, natural, uncertain gray and black. All fabrics are my own textile creations with silk and natural raffia from madagascar.

LADYBRILLEmag.com: Shapes and styles we will see on the runway?
Eric Raisina:
Richness of textile meet modern shapes. Mini body dresses across the flowly long dresses and colourful caftan.

LADYBRILLEmag.com: Hair & Makeup?
Eric Raisina:
Strong dark eyes with very tiet hair and colorful fringes silk hair.

LADYBRILLEmag.com: Is this your first time showing in the USA?
Eric Raisina:
At New York Fashion, yes.

LADYBRILLEmag.com: What are you hoping will happen after the applause and excitement of showing at NYFW?
Eric Raisina:
I hope audience will realize that my textile is unique and all handmade. I do have american clients and hopefully showing at NYFW will bring more and more costomers, contacts, and press for my designs. I will be first of all proud to bring a “Malagasy” feeling to New York Fashion Week.

LADYBRILLEmag.com: You showed at Arise Africa Fashion Week, where do you see Africa’s fashion industry headed in the next two years?
Eric Raisina:
Africa has a such a great potential in terms of creativity, innovation and manufacturing. Definitely, Africa’s influences are shown a lot in fashion these last 3 seasons. Johannesburg will be for me the next big Africa’s appoitment of fashion.
