“What do you think will define S/S 2012 for you?

For me, S/S 2012 will be defined by warm colours, dramatic designs, as well as ‘soft’ materials such as silk and suede. Also, I believe that we will see more draping in clothes. My collection this year will feature some very spectacular pieces contrasted with simple garments for everyday wear, infused with the elements above. Hats are also important to this collection. I worked with an atelier in Belgium that created some really arresting pieces based on my designs – though they are very light, they finish the silhouette perfectly.

What can we expect from your collection?

My designs always seek to challenge the imagination and create a playful, elegant and conceptual atmosphere. For this collection I translated these concepts into clothes that are accessible for the wearer, while trying to retain the imaginative aspects – my greatest design challenge. My collection will also heavily feature the sculptural effects that are a leitmotif of my work.” – Pierre-Antoine Vettorello/Arise
