Arise Africa Fashion Week ’09, Ben Nonterrah

“The designs of Ben Nonterah are captivating with exquisite tailoring, interesting, vibrant prints and unique attention to detail. Working mainly with natural fabrics, each item is hand made, ensuring that no two items of clothing are the same.

All the Nonterah garments are made in Ghana, thereby creating local employment while raising production standards and revolutionising couture in the east African country. Using a mix of local and other natural fabrics, African motifs such as Ashanti adinkra symbols and accessories, Nonterah creates his designs to stand out as well as be stylish and internationally relevant. His designs therefore reflect the label’s dictum of being African yet globally urban.

Ben Nonterah established himself as a designer in the early ‘90s on a shoestring budget. Through dedication, creativity and a positive attitude, he has emerged as one of the most stylish, non-mainstream designers to come out of Africa, and today his creations are worn by popular musicians, athletes, politicians and other personalities across the globe.

The Nonterah brand has been showcased in countries such the UK, USA, South Africa, Ethiopia, Germany, Cameroon, France and Burkina Faso in recent seasons. . .”
