AMAA 2016 Nominations — South Africa Leads with 21 Nods + Complete List of Nominees

On Sunday May 15, at a private press event in Lagos, Nigeria, organizers of The African Movie Academy Awards, popularly known as AMAA, revealed the nomination list for this year’s event. Leading the way with the most number of nominations is South Africa with its films ‘Ayanda,’ ‘Tell Me Sweet Something,’ and ‘Hear Me Move’. The first two each received nine nominations, while the last received three.

Other countries with a high number of nominations are Nigeria with nineteen, and Ghana with fifteen. The AMAA awards is a Pan-African award show presented annually to recognize excellence among African film industry professionals in Africa and the diaspora. The 2016 ceremony will be held on June 11th, 2016 in the city of Port Harcourt, Rivers State in Nigeria.
