Out of the US$ 15 trillion that pass from governments to suppliers worldwide, only 1% is handled by women entrepreneurs.
The International Trade Centre (ITC) aims to economically empower women by helping them to secure a larger amount of government procurement spending.
ITC Executive Director Arancha González underlined this idea at the launch of a new initiative on ‘Empowering Women Through Public Procurement’ on 15 September 2014. The launch took place at the Fifth Senior Executive Roundtable on Sourcing from Women Vendors in Kigali, Rwanda, as part of the Women Vendors Exhibition and Forum.
