No man or woman should constantly be body shamed for the way they look. Nevertheless, that has been the reality of Serena Williams, the No. 1 Tennis player in the world, who is constantly ridiculed because of her body shape and size. Thankfully, Williams has not let the attempted body shaming affect her self-confidence and self-esteem.
The 34-year-old- who turns 35 in September, graces the cover of SELF Magazine’s September issue, and is nothing short of stunning in an editorial that displays her beautiful, strong and sexy body.
“I love my body, and I would never change anything about it,” Williams explained in her accompanying interview. “I’m not asking you to like my body. I’m just asking you to let me be me. Because I’m going to influence a girl who does look like me, and I want her to feel good about herself.”
Williams keeps the rest of her interview just as candid, and delves into her future goals post tennis including a discussion on starting a family. Check out a few more photos, then head on to SELF Magazine to purchase the September Issue.
