Uche and Bode Pedro Welcomes TwinsThe Ladybrille community sends a hearty congratulations to our Ladybrille Woman Alum Uche Pedro and her husband Bode Pedro for the birth of their twins. The couple welcomed the twins yesterday, Wednesday, April 9th, 2015.

“My husband Bode and I welcomed twins today, April 9,” said Pedro, the CEO & Founder of BellaNaija.com in a message shared on her website. “We’re so excited about their arrival. We thank our family and friends for their love, prayers and support throughout our pregnancy and delivery…”

Uche and Bode Pedro Birth TwinsConsidered one of the most powerful African women in the digital media space, Uche Pedro began  BellaNaija.com almost nine years ago as a blog hosted on Google’s Blogspot.com, while studying as a student in Canada.

She would cut out fashion news stories from popular Nigerian lifestyle magazines, scan and share online for Nigerians in the diaspora who had a voracious appetite for consuming all things from the continent, yet lacked the access to do so.

Her ability to tap into sentimental emotions of Nigerian diasporans longing to connect with their loved  ones, in Nigeria and Africa at large, opened the flood gates to a digital media platform that now has global recognition.

Pedro has been able to scale her business into a full fledge operation with strategic partnerships within and outside Nigeria. Her work has also earned her visibility on The Oprah Show, CNN, recognition as a TEDAfrica Fellow, Young Person of the Year finalist at the Future Awards, and a Ladybrille ‘Woman of the Month’ feature, among numerous recognition and awards.
