“Tina Atiemo’s designs come alive through her signature use of vibrant and bold wax prints and colourful fabrics, a reflection of her own fun character. Tina began her career at the turn of the millennium with her successful company, Tiamo Designs, making exclusive handmade greeting cards and wedding invitations.
She launched into fashion as a spin-off, describing her designs as her ‘cards alive’. A self-taught designer, Tina incorporates the use of local materials and craftsmanship from her homeland Ghana, combining hand-woven fabrics, hand beading with cowry shells and Swarovski crystals. Embroidered fabrics and prints in elegant and sophisticated styles are also consistent in her designs.
Tina has featured on CatWALK the World alongside heavyweight designer Ozwald Boateng, Kulture2Couture and AIA both at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. She has also received publicity internationally and has been appointed Costume Designer for Red Soil, an up and coming Hollywood film starring Laurence Fishburne and Kimberly Elise.
Tina’s Spring/Summer 09/10 collection is titled New Dawn/New Day and is inspired by a new African era of change and celebration.”
