Last year, we told you Nigerian fashion label Iconic Invanity was a design label to watch. This 2013,we are not completely surprised to see Hollywood actress/model Nichole Galicia rock an iconic design piece from its Spring/Summer 2013 collection to the screening of “Life is Amazing.”
Iconic Invanity’s designer was very excited to see the Panamanian-American wear her design, here is what she tweeted about Nichole:
“The beautiful Nichole Galicia of Oscar Nominated Film Django Unchained wearing Iconic Invanity last night in Beverly Hills at a Weinstein Event!”
Congratulations to the designer and the label. We would love to see our designers capitalize on the popularity of their designs by having a strong retail presence online so those who like their designs can easily purchase them.
The Iconic Invanity Spring/Summer 2012 collection, at the just concluded MTN Lagos Fashion & Design Week, ranks as one of the best collections we have seen coming out of all of the runways from New York to Paris, London to South Africa and Lagos, so far.
Almost every piece shown on the runway created a sense of urgency, the “gotta have” kind of urgency. The collection had such freshness, innovation, vibrant colors, rich texture and the design details were impeccable. We loved all the beading on beautiful dresses, the beautiful slants on silhouettes that fused both traditional and modern African dress styles, we loved the styling and everything was just on point about the collection.
Iconic Invanity has the cross over appeal that we believe will take it very far both within and outside Africa. Keep an eye on this label. We deem it, based on this collection, one of Nigeria’s design labels to watch.
