Nigerian Designer Lanre Da Silva Ajayi Debuts Spring ’13 Collection in Dolce & Gabbana Spiga2 Concept Store, in Milan

Lanre Da Silva Ajayi in DOlce and Gabbana Store2013 is off to a groundbreaking start for Nigerian Fashion Designer Lanre Da Silva Ajayi (LDA) of self-named design brand as she continues to set the pace in African fashion.

This February saw the debut of the LDA brand at the famous retail store of world design giant- Dolce & Gabbana, pieces from LDA’s Spring/Summer 2013 collection specially tagged ‘Butterfly Kisses’ can now be bought at the Dolce & Gabbana Spiga2 Concept Store located in Milan, Italy.

LDA is the first African designer to be selected to stock her pieces in the Spiga2 Concept store, which was as a result of the LDA participation at the June 2012 Pitti Immagine Trade Show in Florence, Italy organized by Lagos Fashion and Design Week and Style House Files, the platform responsible for curating the designers who represent the industry at the trade show.

Over the last seven years, Lanre Da Silva Ajayi has created a name for herself in High Fashion in Nigeria. With a remarkable eye for luxury fabrics and prints, she has taken the Fashion Industry by storm with her unique pieces. She continues to set the bar high with her impeccable designs and mind blowing couture pieces. Strongly inspired by the Vintage Era, she continues to stay true to her aesthetic but at the same time, keeping up with the trends.

She creates timeless pieces using mixed fabrics, colours, patterns, prints, and even traditional fabrics to produce a range of pieces, from day wear to evening wear to haute couture.

In 2012, LDA caught the eye of Editor-In-Chief of Vogue Italia, Franca Sozzani who visited the designer’s studio based in the Ikoyi area of Lagos, Nigeria, since then LDA has been featured several times on Vogue Italia and in L’Uomo Vogue, May-June 2012- “Rebranding Africa” Issue. This then led on to the brand’s involvement in the Yoox.com special retail project that was spearheaded by Vogue Italia.
In December 2012, LDA was part of the NDANI – Style House Files Collaboration Pop Store project in Selfirdges, UK, pieces of the brand were displayed for one month in the iconic departmental store on Oxford street in London.
