We have been asking “what is African fashion?” Is it limited to a specific region? The ankara fabrics, the kente clothing or is it an expanded view that encompasses all of Africa? South Africa’s veteran designer Marianne Fassler seems to have thought through our questions as she delivers a collection that is dazzling and is so expansive with its diverse and rich fabrics from across Africa. Her collections provide a step in the right direction for answering our inquiry of “what is African fashion?”
