We are loving the designs of German-Ghanaian-British Afua Dabanka, daughter of Ghanaian parents. The UK based designer makes shoes that make us go “gaga” over them. Meet Afua in her bio below and then go shopping after that!
“My pulse literally starts racing when I see (and, yes, eventually buy!) yet another fabulous heel”, the London based shoe designer Afua Dabanka comments.
Born in Germany to Ghanaian parents, Afua Dabanka’s life leading up to the creation of MO SAÏQUE took a totally different path. Hers is a story of banker turned shoe designer. After several years in Banking and Financial Services, Afua Dabanka decided to pursue her dream and turn her obsession with shoes into reality at the London College of Fashion. It was there that she discovered her creative prowess to design, culminating to MO SAÏQUE debut in 2011.
Her advice? It is never too late to follow your dreams!
The MO SAÏQUE signature aesthetic is simplicity and luxury, with an edge of confidence.
Afua draws creative inspiration for her shoe designs from the extraordinary interplay of her unique background and style savvy fashion sense. She adapts Germany’s classic silhouettes and fuses these seamlessly with the bold colour palette and rich culture of Ghana.A champion of pure luxury and quality, each shoe is handmade in Italy.
A personal touch is the Fern (“Aya”), an Adinkra symbol of Ghana etched on the sole of each shoe. The symbol stands for endurance and resourcefulness, which emphasises the aura and personality of every MO SAÏQUE woman.
Now, go, go SHOP ladies!
