The 4th Annual SAIS Global Women in Leadership Conference was held at the John Hopkins University a few months ago. The conference explored how women are changing the landscape of global health, and how leaders in the field are pioneering innovative technologies to tackle health inequities. They also examined how creative policy, advocacy, and business strategies are promoting women’s health and empowerment, and issued a call to action to apply lessons learned and translate current momentum into future impact.
SAIS Global Women in Leadership (GWL) is a student-run career club at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Founded in 2012, GWL has become an integral part of student life at SAIS and has helped inspire the creation of the SAIS Women’s Leadership Initiative comprising GWL, the SAIS Women’s Alumni Association (SWAN), and an academic practicum for current SAIS students.
GWL equips SAIS students with the tools and knowledge they need to excel in their careers and tackle challenges facing women worldwide by hosting a speaker series, leadership workshops, networking events, and an annual conference all of which bring together SAIS students, alumni IR practitioners, policy makers, and business leaders around issues of women’s leadership.
GWL provides SAIS students who are passionate about women’s issues with the opportunity to assume leadership roles and engage with the diverse network of professionals involved in GWL’s many events and annual conference.
