Pictures & Video: Roberto Cavalli and Vogue Italia Editor-In-Chief Franca Sozzani Visit Ghana and Nigeria to Check Out African Fashion

We are unsure what the real purpose of Roberto Cavalli’s visit to Ghana and Nigeria is, from the standpoint of his planned business expansions. Nevertheless, we are pleased the designer along with Vogue Italia Editor-In-Chief Franca Sozzani stopped by a couple of weeks ago to visit these two countries and dialogue with some of the leading names in fashion and entertainment while there. In Ghana, they spent time with Ghanaian designer Kofi Ansah and young designers from the WEB-Young Designers Hub. In Nigeria, they were hosted by Beth Models Agency, producers of the Elite Model Look Nigeria model competition.

  1. Yes it is a lot of excitement for the Design Studios visited in Nigeria and i agree with you we should be wary of these ‘under-g’ moves. For us Nigerian Designers, the Italia Vogue Editor’s comment should be one knock too many and a wake up call to transit from being glorified dressmakers and entertainers.Designing is not just making great clothes;it is about running a successful fashion business.
We have a lot to do in terms of structure, training, retailing and fashion merchandising.
