“Introducing exciting new Afrobeats star Ezi Emela with her brilliant debut single titled “Catch My Heart” – featuring UK Afrobeats stalwarts Mista Silva and Skob – and its accompanying music video as directed by burgeoning director Mr. Moe Musa.
On “Catch My Heart”, Ezi not only radiantly showcases her enthralling vocals and strong song writing skills but also unleashes one of the catchiest hooks in 2012 as she confesses to her leading man that “you don catch my heart” – one listen of “Catch My Heart” will leave you singing along to Ezi even long after the song has already ended.
Sonically, “Catch My Heart” is beautifully backed by grand keyboard arrangements and lush drum patterns provided by Heavy K on production with Mista Sliva and Skob complimenting Ezi perfectly by adding their trademark buttery smooth rap flows and Azonto flavour to the monster record to make “Catch My Heart” a sexy, catchy and infectious Afrobeats future HIT!
With the captivating music video for “Catch My Heart”, prolific director Mr. Moe Musa succeeds in capturing Ezi Emela in her fun and enigmatic element and provides a befitting visual backdrop for an already excellent song.”
ABOUT EZI EMELA
Rising Afrobeats sensation and singer/songwriter Ezi Emela – real name Ezichimemela Ezeh – is exactly what Afrobeats music has been missing in 2012. Hugely anticipated and hotly tipped for super stardom, Ezi – an actress, model and artist – is what many would describe as a “Triple Threat” and rightly so…
Born in Manchester, England to Nigerian parents, Ezi has had a passion for music for as long as she can remember and has been singing from a very tender age. As an early teen, Ezi formed a group with her sister and at the age of 16, she took things up a notch by getting involved with her local Church choir where she continued to hone her singing skills further.
In 2009, Ezi moved away from her home in Manchester to London to begin her modelling career which has seen her model for campaigns for the likes of Chanel, GAP, London Fashion Week, Arise Magazine Fashion Week (Nigeria) and many more. An outstanding singer, songwriter, performer and model, Ezi – who also speaks fluent French – is currently studying Business and Management at London South Bank University whilst also furthering her music career.
Music is and has always been Ezi’s passion and she takes pride in her abilities as a versatile artist, a visual chameleon and an extraordinary performer. Ezi is ready to take the African music landscape by storm with her unique style, excellent vocal dexterities, exceptional song writing skills and unforgettable stage presence.
So far in her burgeoning career, Ezi has started received rave reviews for her stellar performances alongside African music legend 2Face, Chocolate City, Waje and Tiwa Savage among others and it is clear for all to see that Ezi is certainly a future star and one to watch out for in the coming months.
With forthcoming performances at the Nigeria Olympics Concert at Africa Village alongside Naeto C, Eldee and Omawumi as well as her main stage performance at The Love Afrobeats Festival at London’s HMV Hammersmith Apollo alongside Afrobeats Heavyweights P-Square, Wande Coal and May-D all yet to come for her this year, Ezi Emela is poised to become one of the most talked about and sought after new Afrobeats stars to emerge in 2012!
Her first single “Catch My Heart” – which is produced by Heavy K and features UK Afrobeats royalty, Mista Silva F2D (“BoomBoomTah”) and Skob Original – is only the tip of the iceberg of what Ezi Emela is bringing to the African music scene. The colourful and enigmatic music video for “Catch My Heart” is directed by Mr. Moe Musa who has also directed videos for Fuse ODG, JJC and E.M.E (Banky W, Wizkid and Skales) as well as Wande Coal’s ”Go Low”.
