Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week, Black Coffee Spring/Summer 2010

South African designers Jacques van der Watt and Danica Lepen (Black Coffee), recipients of the 2009 Mercedes-Benz Award for South African Art and Culture, got the perks that come with winning such an award, the opportunity to show at Mercedes-Benz Berlin Fashion Week.

Black Coffee on July 1st, 2009 at Berlin Fashion Week in BebelPlatz showed off a Spring/Summer 2010 collection full of luxurious silk fabrics in electrifying blues and oranges, regal yet fluid silhouettes, intriguing and delicate design details like pleated skirts, embroidered tops finished off with oversized helmets and nets for head accessories. It was a collection, the designers explained, inspired by old African colonial times meets today’s contemporary society.
