Congratulations to South Africa’s LIRA, Ladybrille Woman of the Month November 2011, who has just been nominated for the 2012 BET Awards in the Best International Act Africa category. The competition, however, is very fierce. Also nominated alongside LIRA in the same category is Wizkid (Nigeria), Ladybrille Man of the Month August 2011, Ice Prince (Nigeria), Sarkodie (Ghana), Camp Mulla (Kenya) and Mokobe (Mali).
For the BET Best International Act UK category, British-Ghanaian Sway and Estelle R &B singer of African heritage each clinched a nomination. In the USA, Kanye West and Beyonce lead the nominations, overall, with seven and six nominations respectively.
According to BET.com, “Maze featuring Frankie Beverly will be honored with the Cadillac Lifetime Achievement Award and Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj are confirmed performers at the award show.
Hosted by Samuel L. Jackson, the BET Awards 2012 will air July 1st, live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles by 8 p.m.”
