Jean Paul Gaultier Celebrates Black Power

Jean Paul GautierAs we prepare for Arise Capetown Fashion Week and gorgeous African models strutting the runway, we take inspiration from Jean Paul Gaultier’s Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2009 Men’s Wear collection. The designer addressing head on the issue of the lack of Black models in the industry, displayed a collection that brought back images and/ or memories of the 60s. Models rocked the runway with Afros and military inspired designs reminiscent of Angela Davis’s “Black Power” 60s era
