There has to be a way for Arise Magazine Fashion organizers to curate the designers who show at Arise Fashion Week Lagos. Not everyone that calls themselves designers are in fact designers. House of Nwocha was another disappointing collection shown at the just completed fashion event. The collection shown appeared as if a bunch of clothes were stuck in the House of Nwocha (no pun intended) and when the day of the show arrived House of Nwocha said, “okay, models pick anything, wear it and walk down the runway.” Not acceptable.
Our designers need to be pushed to deliver creative intelligent designs for the modern day Nigerian woman and designs that can compete on an international level. We’ve got some great names i.e. Jewel by Lisa, Tiffany Amber, MOMO, Maki Oh, Mai Atafo etc. Others, including House of Nwocha, simply need to put in more work in the creative process to tweak and refine their craft.
