Res ipsa loquitor is a Latin common saying in the legal field. It means, “the thing/evidence speaks for itself.” Georges Chakra’s Fall 2009 Collection is simple Res Ipsa Loquitor. Bold, strong, feminine, dramatic and downright gorgeous, you are guaranteed, if caught in one of these designs, to make a very brilliant breathtaking statement without saying a word.

All I can say is….. WOW!Each piece is original and unexpected. Strong in concept as well as execution. Everything that was lacking from the Thisday/ARise collection. I had some harsh words for that collection and from the comments and polls on the internet quite a few people agree but the designers arent the only ones at fault. Our fledgling fashion press needs to try harder to educate the consumer without the bias of "the designer is my friend…" or in a lot of cases"money changed hands". Designers will get creatively lazy if all they have to do is cherry pick the best of the international catwalks and make them in thier own fabrics and whoever copies them first gets to claim them. As consumers, we need to stop going to designers with pictures of Beyonce and Posh Spice and asking for replicas, and when we see replicas on hangers, turn our backs and ask for original designs. George Chakra and Elie Saab are lebanese designers and as my mum would say…they dont have two heads! Lets encourage our fellow africans to cultivate the excellence that lies within.
