ESSENCE, the number one media, technology and commerce company serving Black women, has revealed the four extraordinary honorees for its annual Black Women in Hollywood Awards, celebrating the global influence of Hollywood’s leading female artist-activists—both in front of the camera and behind-the-scenes. The highly-anticipated Oscar-week luncheon will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills, CA.
This year’s brilliant Black Women in Hollywood honorees include actress Amandla Stenberg (“The Hate U Give”), actress/singer and author Jenifer Lewis (“Black-ish”), actress Kiki Layne (“If Beale Street Could Talk”) and actress/comedian Regina Hall (“Support The Girls”).
“We are proud to salute the marvelous work and stunning achievements of our 2019 Black Women in Hollywood awardees, who as a collective presence are challenging perceptions and impacting social change,” says MoAna Luu, Chief Creative and Content Officer for ESSENCE. “Through their craft and their commitment to causes, Amandla, Jenifer, Kiki and Regina represent the dynamic intersection of art and activism that is influencing how we shape our own destiny.”
ESSENCE’s Film Noir-themed content throughout Awards season will feature each Black Women in Hollywood honoree, including digital profiles and the debut of four customized magazine covers.
