It’s a catchy headline “innit,” as the British would say. Yes, indeed Dikembe Mutombo will host Face Africa’s 1st Annual Gala , A Clean Water Benefit, benefitting the children of Liberia. But, the real story is the woman behind Face Africa, Saran Kaba Jones, who is making all of these happen.
“A few years ago, I felt the need to assist with the development and reconstruction process in Liberia after a brutal fourteen year civil war left the country’s infrastructures in ruins,” explains Kaba-Jones. “In early 2008, I founded FACE Africa to help identify and bring innovative and effective solutions to address some critical needs like clean water and sanitation. This past October 2009, FACE Africa completed its first clean water project in Barnersville, Liberia, a community of 650 with several wells but no source of clean water supply. The project involved the installation of a water purification system capable of producing up to 20,000 liters of drinking water per day!”
FACE Africa now continues its mission to bring clean water to the children of Liberia with its first Annual GALA that will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at The Taj Hotel in Boston. The event will honor Peter Thum Founder, Ethos Water and Giving Water and Former Vice President of Starbucks. The keynote address will be delivered by Greg Allgood Director, Children’s Safe Drinking Water Procter and Gamble.
